DUBAI, UAE, July 10: Dubai Police have initiated an investigation following the deaths of three Indian workers in separate incidents in Dubai, confirmed by authorities to Gulf News on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Ram Chandra (36), Parsram Gurjar (23), and Shyam Lal (28), were roommates hailing from the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan. They worked as cleaners in different companies and shared accommodation in a villa in Al Raffa, Bur Dubai.
According to sources close to the deceased and a social worker assisting with repatriation procedures, two of the workers were discovered dead in their room, while the third passed away in a hospital.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai expressed condolences and confirmed they are coordinating with local authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the workers' remains.
A relative of one of the deceased lamented the loss, recalling their daily gatherings after work. "It is difficult to believe they are all gone now," he said. "Their families are shattered. We don’t have words to console them. They have small kids and aged parents."
Describing their last interactions, he mentioned meeting Lal just hours before his hospitalization. "As usual, Shyam Lal was with me till midnight on Saturday," he recalled. Lal later informed friends he wasn't feeling well and was admitted to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
Details surrounding the circumstances of their deaths remain unclear, with family and friends anxiously awaiting further information from authorities.
The incident underscores the challenges faced by expatriate workers in Dubai, highlighting concerns over living conditions and healthcare accessibility.
Dubai Police assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the causes of these tragic deaths.
