3 Indian engineers arrested for using fake degrees to stamp work permits

KUWAIT CITY, March 20: Three Indian engineers have been detained for interrogation on charges of ‘forging’ work permits on the strength of fake degrees and certificates, reports Al-Rai daily quoting head of the Kuwait Engineers Society (KES) Faisal Al-Attal.

According to preliminary investigations the three expatriates did not meet the requirements for the issue of a work permit. According to Al-Atal, the arrests came after the Interior Ministry asked for the files of the three men working in the oil sector and discovered that the files of the three men were already with the KES and that their request for a certificate of accreditation was refused by the KSE and the prosecution was provided with all the necessary documents.

He pointed out the three persons were referred to the concerned authority individually and were refused to be granted the certificate of accreditation because their qualifications do not warrant such accreditation. He added, the Public Authority for Manpower has also informed the Prosecution that the three have no files at the PAM. Al-Atal pointed out, two of them were working as engineers and wanted to renew their residence and the third entered Kuwait a while ago.

The electronic link between government and civil authorities has begun to reap the fruits of organizing the labor market, especially when it comes to detecting a large numbers of those who entered the country with false certificates and qualifications, and obtained a job and work permit.
