KUWAIT CITY, July 21: The General Traffic Department at the Interior Ministry continued its field campaigns throughout the country, leading to the issuance of about 3,000 traffic violation citations and impoundment of 31 vehicles in the last 24 hours. A security source disclosed that the violations included using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt, non-compliance with trucks and towing regulations, speeding, causing excessive noise, tinted vehicle windows, and other traffic violations. In a related development, officers from the General Traffic Department arrested three Asians found to be transporting passengers in their private vehicles in exchange for money.
According to a security source, these Asians are now detained at a police station and their vehicles were seized to complete legal proceedings. Moreover, the Traffic and Operations Sector held intensive traffic and security campaigns in all governorates from July 13 to 19, intending to improve traffic discipline, enhance road safety, apprehend violators, and ensure equal enforcement of the law. The campaigns resulted in the issuance of 23,567 traffic citations, the detention of 29 individuals at traffic police stations, the referral of nine juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for legal action, and the impounding of 271 vehicles and four motorcycles. Traffic patrols responded to 2,632 reports and 927 collisions, including 164 accidents involving injuries. They also arrested one person suspected of possessing narcotics and another found in an abnormal condition, referring both to the Drug Control General Department. In addition, 35 residency law violators, one person without official identification, 36 wanted individuals, and 26 wanted vehicles were apprehended.
Furthermore, the Traffic and Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Emergency Police, held field campaigns in governorates from July 12 to 18. The campaigns resulted in 1,943 operations, including the arrest of 32 wanted individuals, the seizure of 13 wanted vehicles, and the arrest of 16 residency law violators, nine individuals found in an abnormal condition, and five people without official identification documents. Also, three suspects were arrested and referred to the Drug Control General Department for legal action. They also issued 1,115 traffic citations, impounded two vehicles for violating laws and regulations, responded to 149 traffic accident reports, and provided 1,017 instances of humanitarian assistance to citizens and residents.
