KUWAIT CITY, Apr 30: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has arrested three Asian nationals for illegally trading in water recharge cards issued by the Ministry of Electricity and Water, as part of ongoing efforts to combat financial and administrative crimes. One of the suspects was also wanted on an arrest warrant for absconding.
According to the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the suspects were apprehended after authorities received intelligence about their activities. Following surveillance and legal procedures, officers from the Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes Department arrested the trio in possession of 250 water recharge cards, along with a large number of collection invoices and bank statements.
Investigations revealed that the accused were selling the cards, originally issued to individuals and companies operating water tankers for personal profit. Authorities stressed that the water provided through these cards is heavily subsidized by the state and is strictly not intended for resale.
All three suspects have been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and legal action. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to intensifying security campaigns to protect public resources and take strict action against those who attempt to exploit government subsidies.
