2kg of Methamphetamine Hidden Inside Books Uncovered in Kuwait Drug Bust; Asian Resident Arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: Kuwait’s General Directorate of Drug Control has foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately two kilograms of methamphetamine into the country and arrested an Asian resident suspected of involvement in the planned trafficking operation.

According to the Ministry of Interior, investigations and surveillance revealed that the shipment had arrived by air freight from an Asian country. The drugs were concealed inside some books in an attempt to disguise the shipment and evade inspection.

Drug control officers, however, detected the concealed narcotics and arrested the suspect after establishing his alleged involvement in bringing the shipment into Kuwait for distribution.

The suspect, along with the seized narcotics, was referred to the competent authorities for legal action. Kuwait also coordinated with authorities in the country from which the shipment originated to take the necessary measures.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug smuggling and trafficking, saying security authorities continue to monitor evolving methods used by traffickers and will take firm action against anyone attempting to bring narcotics into Kuwait or distribute them within the country.
