KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Traffic and Operations Sector, represented by the General Traffic Department, continued its traffic and security campaigns in the country’s governorates from August 3 to 9, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a statement, the department explained that the campaigns resulted in the issuance of 29,060 traffic citations, the detention of 21 individuals at traffic police stations, and the referral of nine juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution. In addition, 341 vehicles and four motorcycles were impounded for committing serious traffic violations.
A total of 2,249 traffic reports were handled, including patrols responding to 859 traffic accidents, 141 of which resulted in injuries. One person was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, while five individuals were apprehended for being under the influence of drugs. All five were referred to the Drug Control General Department. Sixty-three individuals were arrested for expired residency permits, while four individuals were found without proper identification. Furthermore, 52 wanted individuals and 20 vehicles were apprehended. All individuals and vehicles were transferred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
Meanwhile, the General Department of Emergency Police continued its field security and traffic efforts in all governorates from August 2 to 8, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a statement, the department explained that its security efforts during this period resulted in 1,973 security operations, the provision of assistance in 1,017 humanitarian cases, the arrest of 77 wanted individuals, and the impounding of 19 wanted vehicles. It also apprehended 45 individuals for expired residency permits and 21 individuals without official identification. Ten individuals suspected of possessing drugs were arrested and referred to the Drug Control General Department. Thirteen individuals suspected of being under the influence of drugs were also apprehended. The campaigns resulted in the issuance of 1,185 traffic citations, the impounding of nine vehicles for serious traffic offenses, and the handling of 119 traffic accidents.
