KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: Officers of the General Traffic Department issued 28,000 traffic citations, and seized 78 vehicles and 40 wanted vehicles during traffic campaigns last week. According to weekly statistics issued by the General Traffic Department, 31 reckless motorists were arrested and referred to traffic police, and nine juveniles were caught driving vehicles without a driver’s license. Also, 14 people without identification documents, 14 wanted for civil and criminal cases, two in possession of narcotic drugs and a person in abnormal condition were arrested. Necessary legal measures were taken against them.

Meanwhile , the General Traffic Department (GTD), in cooperation with Kuwait Municipality, carried out a traffic and inspection campaign covering workshops, garages and craft shops in Al-Rai in the Capital Governorate, reports Al-Anba daily. This campaign resulted in the issuance of 90 citations for traffic violations and impounding of two vehicles. The violations include failure to follow the height conditions, paint damage, expiration of insurance and license; while the Municipality put warning stickers on 18 abandoned vehicles. GTD confirmed the continuation of these campaigns, and that it will not be lax in enforcing the law on violators, calling on the public to strictly comply with the traffic regulations to ensure the safety of everyone
