KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: The General Directorate of Traffic has intensified field inspection campaigns across major roads as part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
According to an official statement, the campaigns were carried out between February 2 and February 8, 2026, resulting in the detection of thousands of traffic violations, the impounding of vehicles and motorcycles, and the apprehension of individuals in violation of various laws.
During the inspection period, authorities recorded 27,300 traffic violations. A total of 404 vehicles and 64 motorcycles were impounded for breaching Article 207 of the Executive Regulations of the Traffic Law. Additionally, 39 individuals were apprehended for holding expired residency permits.
The Directorate reported that 50 individuals wanted by authorities, either for absenteeism or outstanding arrest warrants, were taken into custody. One individual was referred to competent authorities for investigation after being found in an abnormal condition, while another was apprehended for failing to carry official identification. Authorities also impounded 33 vehicles sought by the courts.
Traffic patrols handled 2,781 traffic-related reports during the campaign period, including 223 collision and injury cases and 1,116 traffic accidents, the statement said.
The General Directorate of Traffic stressed that traffic and security campaigns will continue across the country, warning that strict legal action will be taken against all violators and anyone who poses a threat to the safety of road users.
