KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: On Sunday, the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of three individuals who were found in possession of a significant quantity of narcotics, which they attempted to smuggle into the country by sea. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is approximately 2.5 million Kuwaiti dinars (around 8.2 million US dollars).

The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media released a statement indicating that the General Department for Combating Narcotics received information about individuals smuggling narcotics into the country by sea. In coordination with the General Department of Coast Guard, a boat was detected entering the territorial waters via an advanced radar system. After monitoring the vessel, authorities apprehended three individuals red-handed while they were delivering the drugs, despite facing fierce resistance.

Upon sorting and counting the seized items, authorities discovered that the haul included an estimated 308 kilograms of hashish, one million Lyrica capsules, and 500,000 Captagon pills. The ministry emphasized that this seizure is part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling and trafficking, supported by collaborative security measures. It also stated its vigilance against anyone attempting to engage in narcotics smuggling and trading.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious activities by calling the emergency number (112) as it continues its mission to combat drug smugglers and dealers.
