KUWAIT CITY, March 27: The governmental and parliamentary sides completed discussion on the State budget for fiscal 2023/2024, and budgets of subsidiaries and independent institutions in mid-February, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources confirmed the inclusion of 24,000 job slots in the new budget; allowance increment for citizens studying abroad; various allowances and bonuses; foreign scholarships; nursing missions; overseas treatment; subsidies and many projects.

Sources explained that if the approval of the new budget is delayed, new employees are hired based on the budget for the ending fiscal year or estimate for the new fiscal year, whichever is less. Sources said now that discussions on the new budget and response to the Budget Committee’s inquiries have been completed; deliberations on comments, if any, shall follow. “This will pave way for completion of the required report to include it in the agenda of the next legislative session. According to the law, the 2022/2023 budget ends on Thursday,” sources added.
