KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: Major General Eid Al-Awaihan, Director of the General Department of Criminal Evidence, commended the outstanding efforts of the department's personnel in solving crimes, identifying the deceased, and determining causes of death. He noted that this reflects their extensive expertise, alongside their commitment to handling all cases with utmost confidentiality to protect the rights of all involved. He also shared department statistics from the start of the year until the end of August, revealing that they had handled 2,637 reports, ranging from accidents to fires.
In a statement to Al-Rai, Al-Awaihan mentioned that the forensic medicine department had investigated 232 deaths from various incidents, including 128 deaths from traffic accidents, 21 from drug overdoses, 74 from suicides, and 8 from homicides.
Elaborating further, he detailed that the crime scene departments managed 585 reports in Ahmadi Governorate, 168 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, 457 in Jahra, 751 in Hawalli and the Capital, and 543 in Farwaniya. Additionally, the Fire and Explosives Department addressed 153 cases.
He added, "We have teams working at full capacity, fulfilling tasks and contributing to solving crimes, identifying the deceased, and accurately determining the causes of death or injury. Moreover, we continue to work on the national project of collecting biometric fingerprints from all citizens and residents, which enhances our ability to handle any assigned tasks efficiently."
