RIYADH, July 31: At least 23 people were injured (some seriously) after a mechanical failure caused a thrill ride to collapse at Green Mountain Park in the Hada area near Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Dramatic footage circulating on social media shows the moment the central pole of the ride, known as '360 Degrees', suddenly snapped while in motion. The ride, swinging with passengers aboard, cracked mid-air before crashing down with a loud thud, leaving riders screaming in shock and pain.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with several young men and women suffering injuries after being struck by the recoiling structure or falling from their seats. The injuries ranged from moderate to severe.
Following the incident, hospitals across Taif activated a Code Yellow emergency to handle the influx of casualties. Emergency medical teams treated victims at the scene before transferring them to nearby facilities for further care.
Authorities responded quickly, and an urgent investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the ride’s failure. Safety protocols at amusement parks are now under scrutiny as officials seek to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
