218 arrested in Sabhan morning security raids face deportation

KUWAIT CITY, March 9: Security operatives checked the identities of 1,117 expatriates and referred 218 of them to deportation in an extensive security campaign at Sabhan in the early hours of Wednesday. Undersecretary of Interior Lieutenant General Suleiman Al-Fahad led the campaign accompanied by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali, Security Chief of Mubarak Al Kabeer Governorate Major General Faraj Al-Zuabi, and other concerned security officials.

An Interior Ministry statement indicated Lieutenant General Al-Fahad directed security operatives to block the entrances and exits to Subhan area to traffic and bring outlaws to justice. The officers mounted checkpoints at strategic areas and arrested 218 people for various offenses, among them 51 people violating labor law, 95 people without official identification documents, 23 people with expired residencies, 2 people involved in criminal offenses, 32 absconders, and 9 people involved in civil cases. Also, the officers recovered six wanted vehicles and released all other suspects after they had shown their identification documents; others who proved to security officers they were in the process of renewing their residencies.
