20,391 traffic citations issued, 142 cars & 70 bikes seized in one week

28 vehicles used in crimes impounded; 57 people arrested

KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The Traffic Sector continued its periodic campaigns under the leadership of Major General Yousef Al-Khadda, reports Al-Anba daily. The campaigns carried out by the Traffic Departments in the six governorates from March 9-15 resulted in the issuance of 20,391 traffic violation citations, while 142 vehicles and 70 bicycles were impounded as their owners or drivers committed grave violations. These campaigns also led to the arrest of 12 persons wanted by law for committing various crimes, nine expatriates who hold expired residency permits, 23 juveniles for driving without a license and 57 individuals who committed serious traffic violations.

A total of 28 vehicles were impounded as they were reported to have been utilized in committing crimes. Meanwhile, the General Traffic Department (GTD) dealt with 258 collision accidents that resulted in injuries, while the number of accidents that did not cause injuries reached 1,903. GTD also carried out a campaign against craft workshops in Shuwaikh with the participation of several other concerned entities. This led to the issuance of 95 citations for various traffic violations, the closure of a workshop, the disconnection of electricity from six workshops, and the arrest of three individuals who violated the Residency Law.
