200 people held for various crimes in security campaigns

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: More than 200 violators of law including drug users were arrested during security campaigns that were launched in most parts of Kuwait in the last three days. According to security sources, these campaigns were based on instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. During the campaigns, the officers also discovered many vehicles that were reported as stolen. The sources affirmed that these campaigns will continue to be held to arrest violators of law and wanted individuals.

Meanwhile, General Department for Public Relations and Security Media of Ministry of Interior declared that the General Department of Coast Guard will conduct a live-ammunition exercise on April 9-10 from 8am to 2pm in Kuwaiti territorial waters. It warned people against approaching areas close to Qarwa Island and Umm Al- Maradem Island where the exercise will be conducted. The department affirmed that marine patrol officers will prevent civilians from accessing the abovementioned locations with the aim of protecting their lives.

Syrians held for thefts: Jahra securitymen arrested two Syrians for involvement in three theft cases in camping sites in Salmi and Kabad. A group of Kuwaitis filed a complaint against unknown persons who allegedly stole items from their camping sites. Investigation ensued, leading to the arrest of the suspects who admitted the crime. The suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution

Stolen vehicle repainted: The Criminal Department in the Interior Ministry, in cooperation with the Criminal Evidence General Department, identified the suspect in four misdemeanor and theft cases in Salmiya by analyzing pieces of technical evidence, reports Al-Seyassah daily. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being involved in a big number of theft cases to purchase drugs. He also stole a vehicle which he repainted and a plate number that he installed in the stolen car. Several complainants were summoned to identify their belongings from the stolen items. The suspect was referred to the concerned security department for legal action.

Asian’s vehicle stolen: The vehicle of an Asian expatriate was stolen in front of a house in Jahra area while he was delivering an order to the house. According to security sources, the victim went to Jahra Police Station and reported the theft of his vehicle. He explained that he was delivering orders from a restaurant when he stopped in front of one of the houses and went up to deliver the order. He returned to find his vehicle missing. Securitymen circulated the description of the vehicle to all patrol teams in the country.

No injuries in fire: Firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in a cement mixture vehicle along King Faisal Motorway, opposite Adailiya. No casualties or injuries were reported and investigations are underway to determine the cause of fire.
