KUWAIT CITY, Mar 7: Authorities in Kuwait have arrested three individuals after a video circulated on social media allegedly showed them mocking the country’s current situation, the Kuwait Ministry of Interior said.

According to the ministry, the suspects—two Kuwaiti nationals and one Colombian national—were detained after authorities detected the clip during ongoing monitoring of content shared across social media platforms.

The individuals face accusations including spreading false news, harming national interests, and misusing a telephone, the ministry said in a statement.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects have been detained and legal procedures are underway to refer them to the competent authorities.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that such behaviour is unacceptable and reiterated the need for users to comply with laws and regulations governing the use of social media platforms.

It also urged the public to refrain from publishing or circulating content that could harm the interests of the state, especially amid the current circumstances facing the country and the wider region.

The ministry called on citizens and residents to act responsibly and warned that the law would be firmly enforced against anyone found violating regulations.
