1923 food delivery service permits cancelled

Kuwait, May 7: The Director General of Kuwait Municipality, Ahmed Al-Manfuhi, announced today, Thursday, the cancellation of 1923 food service delivery permit for violating health requirements, out of the total permits issued by the municipality of 4705.


Al-Manfuhi said in a press statement that these cancellations come within the framework of mechanism for the service of online selling and delivering with the need to adhere to the conditions and controls for obtaining permits set by the municipality.


He added that the municipality is implementing the cabinet decision that assigned it to put in place the executive mechanism to implement the contents of the Ministry of Health guidelines for the conditions and controls for combating the new Corona virus (Covid 19) related to the bodies involved in the activity of selling and delivering meals.


He emphasized that it was incorrect of what was circulated in some social media that the number of workers authorized to practice the delivery service exceeded 8,000 workers, indicating that the permits issued by the municipality are subject to strict control.

He stressed lack of complacency in adhering to precautionary health measures will not hesitate to cancel the permits of those who are not committed to the implementation of the Ministry of Health guidelines because the health of all is above everything else.


The exact violations varied between the violation of work requirements and the lack of commitment to procedures for preparing and packing food in addition to non-compliance with the transportation and delivery mechanism.


Al-Manfuhi said that the municipality’s field teams monitored, in cooperation with the competent authorities, workers whose delivery service is not covered by the restaurants that they work for, noting that the municipality will submit a list of their names to the Ministry of Interior.  (KUNA)
