DAMASCUS, Jul 25: At least 19 people were killed and 27 others injured on Saturday after two passenger buses collided on a highway in central Syria, state broadcaster Alikhbaria TV reported.
The crash occurred on the Damascus-Deir ez-Zor highway between the cities of Palmyra and Al-Sukhnah, according to the report.
The broadcaster said the casualty figures were preliminary and that authorities were continuing to assess the situation.
Emergency teams responded to the scene, while further details about the cause of the collision and the identities of those killed or injured were not immediately available.
