19 Juveniles Referred, 45 Reckless Drivers Arrested in Nationwide Campaign

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The General Traffic Department has intensified traffic and security campaigns across various parts of the country, targeting violators and individuals wanted by law while responding swiftly to reports to safeguard lives and property and reinforce the rule of law.

The campaigns, carried out from the 5th to the 13th of this month, resulted in the referral of 19 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a license and the arrest of 45 reckless drivers. Authorities also issued 24,855 traffic citations and apprehended 122 wanted individuals. During the same period, officers dealt with 1,588 traffic accidents, including minor collisions involving material damage as well as accidents that led to injuries or fatalities.

According to figures published, traffic officers recorded 22,970 violations, impounded 322 vehicles and 59 motorcycles, and arrested 38 individuals for expired residency permits. They also apprehended 58 persons wanted for absconding or outstanding arrest warrants, in addition to seizing 20 vehicles wanted by the courts.

The data further showed that officers responded to 205 injury-related collisions and 1,258 non-injury accidents. Meanwhile, emergency police units arrested 64 wanted individuals and issued 1,885 traffic citations during the campaign period.
