18 water projects enter the pipeline

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: The plan of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy for the current fiscal year includes 18 contracts, which will be tendered by the Water Projects Sector. This sector is responsible for planning, developing, designing and supervising the implementation of water projects throughout the country to better serve customers. Water distribution complex projects in various areas top the list of priorities for the sector, given the vital role these complexes play in bolstering fresh water reserves and ensuring continuous supply.

The contracts include the development of four freshwater complexes in Wafra, Doha, Shuwaikh and Hawally, which entails the construction of two groundlevel reservoirs, a water pumping station and main electrical substation. The scope of work consists of supplying and installing pumps and on-site piping, as well as civil, mechanical and electrical works and control systems. The water projects include the construction of major water pipelines connecting Shuwaikh to Bayan, Shuwaikh to Hawally, and Hawally to Fahaheel Road.

Other projects are lines connecting the Mina Abdullah Water Complex to the West Fintas Complex, brackish water line from the Mina Abdullah Complex to Zour Complex, and pipelines linking Wafra Water Complex No. 1 to the southern part of Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City. Meanwhile, the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) recently opened bids for an excavation project covering the entire country. Ten bids were accepted and will be referred to the ministry for evaluation and preparation of technical recommendations, leading to the final award decision for the bid that met all specifications and technical requirements. The tender aims to adjust the configuration of medium-voltage cables and carry out excavation and backfilling works to raise, reroute or deepen the cables, in addition to the civil works for customers and all state projects.
