KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Seventeen people were arrested during a raid on a five-star hotel in Kuwait’s Capital Governorate early Friday following a complaint about loud noise, blaring music and shouting, according to a report published on social media.

The report said patrols from the Capital Security Directorate responded to the complaint and raided the hotel, where they allegedly found 17 people, including five men described as wearing women’s dance clothing and being nearly naked. Others were reportedly in an apparent state of intoxication.

Five people allegedly managed to escape from the scene.

The report identified the 17 detainees by their initials as follows: M.S., M.N., J.A., F.D., A.G., M.G., J.F., D.R., H.A., F.A., A.J., J.S., H.M., A.B., M.A., M.S. and A.T.

Following checks of their identities, the report claimed that a large number of those detained were officers with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence, as well as personnel from other entities. It also alleged that one of the detainees was the son of a former National Assembly member.

The detainees were reportedly referred immediately to the Criminal Investigation Department for further legal procedures, while security authorities continued efforts to locate the five people who allegedly fled. Their identities had reportedly been established.

The report said the full names of those detained were withheld out of respect for their families.

The allegations and the reported identities and professional affiliations of those involved have not been independently verified.
