16th June Marks Start of Islamic New Year in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 15: The sighting of the crescent moon of Muharram was confirmed on Monday evening, officially marking Tuesday, June 16, as the first day of the Hijri year 1448 AH.

Following the confirmation, authorities announced that the Islamic New Year holiday will be observed on Tuesday in accordance with a Cabinet decision and a circular issued by the Civil Service Commission of Kuwait.

The occasion marks the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year and will be observed as an official public holiday across the country.
