15 dead in ammunition factory blast in southwest India

NEW DELHI, March 1, (Xinhua): At least 15 persons died and more than a dozen were injured when a powerful blast took place inside an ammunition factory in India's southwestern state of Maharashtra on Sunday, confirmed the local police on Sunday. The blast occurred in the Kalmeshwar area of the state's Nagpur district at around 07:00 am.

The factory was engaged in the production of industrial explosives used in mining and other infrastructure projects. At least 15 bodies have been recovered from the factory premises.

Over 12 people have been admitted to a local hospital. Among the injured, some are in a critical condition. All victims are factory workers, said a police officer over the phone while giving details. The cause of the blast was yet to be known
