KUWAIT CITY, May 5: The Court of Cassation has adjourned to June 15 the appeal of Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled in a case involving the special expenditures of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior, while allowing him the opportunity to repay the amounts owed to both ministries. Sheikh Talal had appealed the ruling issued by the Ministers’ Court in January 2026, which sentenced him to 14 years in prison, ordered him to repay approximately KD 10 million, and imposed a fine of around KD 20 million on charges related to embezzlement of funds from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior’s expenditures and money laundering. He also appealed a ruling by the Ministers’ Court that sentenced him to seven years in prison in a case involving the expenditures of one of the two ministries. The ruling also ordered him to refund KD 500,000, imposed a KD 1 million fine, and dismissed him from his position. He further appealed another ruling by the same court, which sentenced him to seven years in prison with hard labor, ordered him to repay approximately KD 9 million, imposed fines totaling around KD 19 million, and confiscated vehicles linked to the case.
