KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: As part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and enforce legal regulations, the Capital Governorate Security Directorate carried out a major crackdown on unlicensed grocery stores operating from private homes in the Jaber Al-Ahmad residential area. The raids, following extensive field monitoring and surveillance, uncovered serious violations of labor, residency, and trade laws.

Authorities discovered that private residences were being used to run commercial operations without licenses, selling food products and serving customers on-site. The campaign led to the arrest of 14 workers living and working in these illegal establishments, along with several delivery personnel operating motorcycles in violation of residency and labor regulations.

Investigators also found widespread misuse of private homes, including the sale of gas cylinders in contravention of trade laws. Seven delivery motorcycles without license plates were confiscated, and adulterated or expired food products were seized from multiple locations.

In coordination with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, authorities issued 33 violation reports against the inspected establishments. Infractions ranged from operating without health permits, handling unsanitary or adulterated food, selling items unfit for consumption, failing to provide proper nutritional labels, to employing staff without valid health certificates.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing monitoring campaigns, emphasizing that legal action will continue against violators to protect public health and ensure community safety.
