LAHORE, June 30: At least 14 children were killed and nine others injured after the roof of a school academy collapsed in Lahore, Pakistan, on Tuesday.
Punjab Health Minister Jawaja Imran Nazir confirmed the death toll, saying the victims were among those trapped after the collapse. Local media reported that rescue teams recovered the bodies from the debris.
At least eight children and one teacher were injured and taken to Lahore General Hospital for treatment, with authorities saying some suffered serious injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway as officials assess the condition of the building and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
