13 Killed, 66 Injured in Gas Plant Accident in Qatar

DOHA June 22: An accident at a factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar killed 13 people and injured 66 others of various nationalities, the Qatari Ministry of Interior said Monday.

The ministry said in a statement posted on X that the accident was caused by a technical malfunction during operation .

Immediately after the incident, security authorities, in cooperation with emergency response teams in Ras Laffan Industrial City, began on-site procedures in line with approved emergency plans. The injured were transferred to hospitals and medical facilities to receive the necessary treatment, while search operations at the site were completed.

The ministry said the relevant authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, identify its technical causes and take the necessary measures under applicable legal and technical frameworks.
