13 injured as blast hits train in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24, (Xinhua): At least 13 people were injured when an explosion derailed a passenger train in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, officials said. The blast struck near Dasht area in Mastung district, derailing three compartments of Jaffar Express, an official from the media cell of Pakistan Railways told Xinhua.

The train was bound for Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. "A bomb was fixed near the track and it went off as soon as the train passed by it," the official said.

The Medical Emergency Response Centers 1122 Control Room in Quetta said its teams treated 12 injured passengers, including women, on the spot, while one was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital Quetta. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
