120 to 130 flights daily from 1st Aug – PCR test for incoming passengers

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 29: The Council of Ministers approved operation of commercial flights for arrivals and departures from Kuwait International Airport starting from 1st August, with an operations of not more than 30% in the first stage as per health requirements with a 3 stage plan implementation.

An official source stated that commercial flights operations is for citizens and expatriates. The operational capacity in the first stage will include the departure of between 8,000 and 10,000 passengers per day and around 120 to 130 flights will operate per day which includes incoming and outgoing flights from all the terminals.

The interval time will be of one hour between each flight provided there is no congestion between travelers.

The second stage begins on the 1st February and continues for a period of 6 months during which the airport will deal with the number of passengers not to exceed 20,000 per day, up to a maximum of 200 flights per day.

The third stage will come into force on 1st August 2021, during which the state aims to reach passengers exceeding more than 30,000 passengers per day, and a maximum of 300 flights per day.

The operation of commercial flights at the airport will be subject to international guidelines set for requirements and regulations of regional and global airports in receiving their travelers.

There will be bilateral agreements between Kuwait and a number of regional and international airports which will be activated soon to start commercial flights.

Airlines that are authorized to transport passengers are notified of these requirements prior to the travel of citizens and expats to these countries to ensure the safety of travelers.

Kuwait will impose health requirements for those coming to the country which includes conducting the PCR test for each passenger at his own expense before coming to the country. Details on requirements and guidelines for incoming passengers to Kuwait will be specified in coming days.
