KUWAIT CITY, April 24: The Ministry of Interior highlighted a series of major security operations across the country through its “Security News” program, showcasing coordinated field efforts aimed at combating drug trafficking, public health violations, and environmental offenses.

The program began with the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department for Drug Control, which carried out multiple separate operations leading to the arrest of 12 suspects of various nationalities across different areas of Kuwait. The suspects included three Bangladeshi nationals, three Indian nationals, two Egyptian nationals, two Syrian nationals, and one Nepalese national.

Authorities said the suspects were found in possession of large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances intended for trafficking and consumption. The seized items included more than 3 kilograms of chemical substances, 5 liters of CBD oil, 52 MSDS chemical sheets, 1.25 kilograms of methamphetamine (shabu), 1.1 kilograms of hashish, 9 grams of heroin, and 15 kilograms of marijuana. Additional seizures included 2,000 Captagon tablets, 650 Lyrica pills, electronic weighing scales, and packaging materials used for preparing and distributing drugs. Legal procedures were immediately initiated, and all suspects were referred to the competent authorities.

In a separate enforcement action, the General Department of Investigations carried out the destruction of 10,598 bottles of confiscated alcohol linked to drug misdemeanor cases from 2024 and 2025. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal substances and reinforce anti-narcotics measures. The destruction process was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and in coordination with the Kuwait Municipality, the Emergency Police, and the Drug Control Department.

In another operation, the Al-Jahra Security Directorate, in cooperation with Al-Jahra Criminal Investigations, conducted a large-scale campaign in the camel stables area opposite the Al-Jahra Industrial Zone. The campaign uncovered a site involved in the sale of expired food products. Authorities arrested several violators, including five women and one man without identification documents, in addition to two Bangladeshi nationals. Three vehicles used in the illegal activity were also impounded. All suspects and seized items were referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.

Security teams also dealt with a separate environmental violation case involving illegal entry into a protected area. The Al-Jahra Security Directorate, in coordination with the General Department of Facility Security, arrested an individual who unlawfully entered a natural reserve designated for camel grazing. The intrusion resulted in damage to wild vegetation and soil, contributing to overgrazing and depletion of natural plant cover. Legal measures were taken, and the offender was referred to the competent authorities.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued commitment to intensifying security campaigns across all sectors, targeting drug trafficking networks, illegal commercial activities, and environmental violations, while emphasizing strict enforcement of the law to safeguard public safety, health, and national resources.
