KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: Under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector Brigadier Ahmed Fahad Al-Azmi held a meeting with representatives of delivery companies, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The meeting was attended by Director General of the General Traffic Department Brigadier Rashid Al-Hajri and several department officials, with the aim of strengthening compliance with traffic regulations and raising awareness among delivery vehicle and motorcycle drivers.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the meeting emphasized the companies’ responsibility to educate their drivers about traffic violations and the importance of complying with traffic regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users. The ministry stated that it had observed traffic violations committed by some delivery drivers, affirming that the law would be enforced against violators, including the impoundment of motorcycles or vehicles for a period of two months.
It urged delivery companies to monitor their drivers’ compliance with traffic regulations, stressing that field inspections and enforcement measures against violators would continue to enhance traffic safety and protect lives and property. Meanwhile, the Farwaniya Security Directorate conducted a security campaign at the Friday Market in Al-Rai, in coordination with the Farwaniya Criminal Investigation Department, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.
The campaign was part of ongoing field efforts to apprehend violators and wanted individuals, as well as strengthen security and maintain public order. In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the campaign resulted in the apprehension of 25 individuals wanted in connection with “absconding” reports, 16 wanted for expired residency permits, eight labor law violators, three individuals with expired visas, two wanted for arrest over outstanding debts, two wanted due to medical unfitness, two street vendors, one wanted for arrest to enforce court judgments, one wanted individual registered under a defunct company, and one individual subject to an entry ban. Also, 15 violation citations were issued - seven by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, seven by the Public Authority for Manpower, and one by Kuwait Municipality. Humanitarian assistance was also provided for 120 cases, while the security presence at the market was reinforced. The ministry noted that the competent authorities are taking the necessary legal procedures against the detained individuals.
Separately, the General Department of Emergency Police conducted a security and traffic enforcement campaign in Jahra Governorate. The campaign was supervised by the department’s Director General Brigadier Hamlan Hudairi Al-Hamlan, and led by Assistant Director General Colonel Sabah Ali Al-Sabah, as part of ongoing field efforts to enhance security and safety and apprehend wanted individuals and law violators. In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the campaign resulted in the issuance of 103 traffic citations and the apprehension of 15 individuals with expired residency permits, 15 wanted persons, 12 individuals lacking identification, and nine individuals reported as absconders. Also, seven vehicles wanted by the competent authorities were seized and one individual wanted by the relevant authorities was apprehended. The detained individuals and seized vehicles were referred to the appropriate authorities for the necessary legal action. The General Department of Emergency Police continues to conduct security and traffic campaigns in all governorates to uphold security, safety, and the rule of law.
