11 deaths; 1,192 newly infected with coronavirus

KUWAIT CITY, March 21: Kuwait on Sunday said its daily tally of coronavirus infections jumped by 1,192 to take the total to 219,125, while 11 fatalities over the past 24 hours raised its death toll from the outbreak to 1,226.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 14,360, with 232 of them in intensive care units, according to health ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad. He revealed that some 7,072 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 1,967,210, adding that the positive case to test ratio amounted to 16.86 percent over the past 24 hours, government data showed.

The ministry had earlier reported that some 1,331 more people had been cured from the virus over the past day, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 203,539. He went on to urge nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus.
