1,000 expats residence permits not being renewed on daily basis

KUWAIT CITY, July 25: Although the Ministry of Interior has allowed the sponsors/companies to renew residence for their registered employees electronically from MOI website, yet on daily basis about 1,000 residence permits for expatriates expire as they are stranded outside Kuwait.

Expats with expired residence and are outside the country cannot return back to Kuwait, unless their visa is renewed or come on new visa. The status of those who have been outside Kuwait for more than 6 months with valid residence their residence is valid as the time limit for them has been extended until end of the current year.

There are a lot of companies and employers who renew their employees residence who are stranded outside Kuwait due to the airport’s closure and their inability to return to the country, however there is another section of expats whose residence has not been renewed and hence due to this they being sponsors for their families who bear the responsibility for renewing residence could not do so.
