KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: After more than a decade on the run, Criminal Investigation Department officers have brought an end to the escape of a Kuwaiti citizen wanted to serve a total of 90 years in prison in multiple narcotics cases.
A security source said all the charges against the fugitive are linked to the possession and trafficking of drugs. The man had been living in the shadows since 2013, successfully evading arrest for over ten years.
The breakthrough came when detectives received precise intelligence indicating that the wanted man was hiding at the home of one of his friends in the Zahra area. Acting swiftly, a force from the Criminal Investigation Department moved in on the location, surrounded the residence, and arrested the suspect without any issues.
Following his arrest, the fugitive was taken in for questioning, where investigators began probing his movements throughout the years he spent in hiding, as well as identifying those who provided him with shelter and assistance during his long escape from justice.
The source confirmed that after completing initial investigations, the suspect was transferred to central prison, bringing to a close one of the longest-running manhunts linked to narcotics cases.
Authorities stressed that the arrest sends a clear message that there is no haven for those involved in drug trafficking, and that time does not erase accountability.
