KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Ministry of Commerce's Commercial Control Department has closed ten stores in Salmiya and Jahra for selling counterfeit goods, including bags, clothes, shoes, and accessories for international brands subject to legal supervision. The Ministry of Commerce issued a statement stating that the closure of the stores is part of efforts to combat commercial fraud and counterfeiting trademarks and take legal measures against violators.
The seized items are estimated at 4,500 pieces, and those in charge of the stores have been referred to the Commercial Prosecution to complete the legal procedures and sign the agreement. Legal sanctions will be taken against them. Kuwait has been named one of the countries that most violate intellectual property due to the Commercial Control Department's strictness in arresting those who trade in counterfeit goods, referring them to the judiciary, and seizing and destroying counterfeit goods, given the harmful effects of counterfeit crimes and piracy on the economy and human health and safety.
