10 dead in east India hospital fire

NEW DELHI, March 16, (Xinhua): At least 10 people died, and a few others were injured when a fire broke out at a government-run hospital in India's eastern state of Odisha on Sunday night, confirmed the local police.

The fire broke out inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, located in the state's Cuttack district. Among the injured, five persons were said to be in critical condition. Most of the victims were patients admitted to the ICU of the ill-fated hospital.

Initial reports stated that the cause of the fire was a short circuit.
