KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwaitis and expatriates spent about KD 10 billion in the first 90 days or first quarter of 2022, reports Al-Anba daily quoting official statistics from the Central Bank of Kuwait. According to the data, the total expenditure of citizens and expatriates increased by 31 percent as it reached about KD 9.9 billion by the end of March 2022 — KD 2.3 billion higher compared to KD 7.58 billion within the same period in 2021.

The expenditures of citizens and expatriates outside Kuwait increased by 90 percent in the first quarter of the year — an increase of KD 225.3 million as the total amount recorded by the end of March 2022 reached KD 477 million, compared to KD 251.7 million within the same period in 2021. The spending of citizens and expatriates inside Kuwait increased by 28.6 percent or KD 2.09 billion as the total recorded at the end of March 2022 was KD 9.4 billion, compared to KD 7.33 billion within the same period in 2021.
