KUWAIT CITY, May 11: The Kuwait Ministry of Interior said its Criminal Investigation Department, through Jahra Governorate investigators, has seized three livestock pens in the Kabd area that were being used as unlicensed slaughterhouses by Asian workers in violation of public health and agricultural regulations.
Authorities said the operation targeted illegal slaughter activities being carried out without the required permits or oversight from the competent bodies, including the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources.
Investigations found that the livestock pens were being used for purposes other than those for which they were officially designated, breaching applicable laws and safety standards.
After obtaining legal authorization, security teams raided the sites and arrested workers while slaughtering operations were underway inside the illegal facilities.
The operation led to the arrest of 10 individuals of Bangladeshi and Indian nationalities, according to the ministry.
The Ministry of Interior said legal procedures are underway against the suspects in coordination with relevant authorities, adding that security campaigns will continue across the country to identify and act against violations in order to protect public health and food safety.
