Woman faces gallows for killing her spouse

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: The Court of Cassation has upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeals and sentenced the woman to death by hanging, for killing her husband in early April 2020 inside their apartment in Al-Masayel. The attorney for the heirs of the victim, lawyer Ibrahim Al- Kandari, confirmed told a local Arabic daily, that he explained to the court the circumstances and facts of the crime that, legally and in reality, require the death sentence against the accused.

Al-Kandari proved to the court the ugliness of the crime, indicating that the accused hit the victim 19 times with an iron hammer on the back of his head, and stabbed him in the face with a kitchen knife. The Court of Appeals had overturned the verdict of the Court of First Instance, which had sentenced the woman to life imprisonment, but the Public Prosecution appealed the verdict and asked for death penalty.

Earlier it was reported that the 27-year-old Kuwaiti woman, during interrogation, had admitted to killing her husband by hitting him on the head with an iron bar in Al-Masayel. The corpse of the victim which was found inside an apartment was referred to forensics for an autopsy after the woman confessed to killing her husband due to a dispute between them.
