Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdulmahdi

BAGHDAD, May 29, (KUNA): Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdulmahdi said on Tuesday his country is on the verge of resolving its pending matters with Kuwait.

At his weekly press conference, the prime minister described his recent visit to Kuwait as “successful, frank and serious,” confirming that several bilateral agreements had been struck. “We are on the verge of ending our problems, which were large between both countries, and pending issues which are at their closing stages,” he said.

The announcement comes just under a week after his visit to neighbouring Kuwait, where he met His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
