Violations detected in gold market

KUWAIT CITY, July 3: Supervisor of Precious Metal Department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Saad Al-Saeed disclosed that 33 violations were issued against several jewelry shops in Farwaniya area, reports Al-Anba daily.

He noted officers of the department on a recent inspection tour of jewelry shops in several malls and central markets at Farwaniya issued 33 citations against the jewelry shops in question, adding the shopowners will be summoned for questioning and legal action taken against them.

He stressed that shopowners receiving notifications for minor violations will be made to sign a pledge, and if repeated, they’ll be issued written citations and consequently referred to commercial prosecution. It is noteworthy the violations included lack of ministry seal upon the gold sets and non-abidance to regulations on purchase invoice and display of the global price of gold.
