Tons of expired food seized, over 4,000 ads pulled down

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality declared that the emergency team of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Municipality confiscated and destroyed 668 tons of expired food items, issued 64 citations and removed 4,125 violating advertisements, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Head of the emergency team Nasser Al-Hajri explained that the violations included construction violations, employing labors without health certificates, installing advertisements without licenses and selling expired food items. Warnings concerning safety and public hygiene were issued in addition, a shop was closed down and 11 pledges concerning food safety was signed.

He revealed that 47 complaints were received via the hotline number. Meanwhile, the committee in charge of specifying the camping sites for the 2017/2018 season carried out a campaign targeting violating camps in Sulaibiya area. The campaign is part of the extended campaign titled “The desert is your responsibility”.

In a press statement, the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality explained that the emergency team of Farwaniya Municipality carried out a campaign with the cooperation of General Hygiene and Road Works Department.

The campaign resulted in the removal of seven violating camps that were set up outside the areas specified for camping. The campaign was conducted by the Director of General Hygiene and Road Works Department Saad Al-Khurainej, Head of the emergency team Ahmed Al-Shareik, and several inspectors. The department affirmed that such campaigns will continue, calling upon all citizens and residents to abide by the conditions and regulations allotted by Kuwait Municipality in this regard. It stressed the importance of obtaining relevant camping licenses and urged them to preserve nature and environment in the specified sites. The department invited all citizens and residents to call the hotline number 139 to report any complaints or to present their enquiries
