KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: During traffic campaigns held from December 18 to December 24 in all governorates of the country, officers from the General Traffic Department issued 34,919 traffic citations, seized 22 vehicles, detained 22 individuals in traffic custody, referred three expatriates for deportation for driving vehicles without license and discovered 14 vehicles that are wanted for several cases.

In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security urged road users to abide by the traffic rules and regulations, affirming that such campaigns will continue against those who violate the laws of the country.

Tackling violations: Municipality’s new law is a quantum leap and will curb violations regarding buildings and encroachment of State’s properties, Kuwait Municipality Director General Ahmad Al-Manfouhi said. Addressing a seminar organized by Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies late Wednesday on Law No. 33/2016, Al-Manfouhi added that the previous Law No. 5/2005 included several loopholes related to building violations. But, the new one will work on tackling all these negative aspects and violations, he stressed, revealing that it set regulations and punishments against violators like removing unlicensed buildings, cutting off electricity and others services.
