Threat to set mom on fire – Semi-nude youth held

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: Police have arrested an unidentified youth for beating his mother and threatening to set her on fire, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, when police went to arrest the son after his helpless mother filed a complaint with the Jahra Police Station, the suspect escaped wearing just underwear. However, he was later arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation.

Meanwhile, acting on information firemen rushed to a hotel in Salmiya and evacuated 185 guests from the rooms when one of the rooms caught fire, reports Al-Rai daily. Fire-fighters managed to control the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading.

Some guests were treated on the spot for asphyxiation. Investigations are underway to identify the cause of the fire.

In another development, police in coordination with the Kuwait Municipality launched inspection campaigns in Kuwaiti governorates and arrested hawkers and grocery owners for selling water guns to the children, reports Al-Shahed daily. Large quantities of water guns and pistols have been confiscated. And, a Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the Maidan Hawally Police Station accusing a bedoun of betrayal of trust, reports Al-Anba daily. The citizen said the bedoun convinced him to open a profitable real estate business and the victim invested KD 12,600. The bedoun is said to have escaped with the money.
