Sponsor offers Filipino maid cash to drop beating case

KUWAIT CITY, March 4: An Asian housemaid sustained injuries when she was attacked by the daughter of her sponsor. According to security sources, the victim was taken to Amiri Hospital by her sponsor’s son for treatment of the injuries she sustained when she was attacked by her sponsor’s daughter. After obtaining a medical report, the son took the victim to Qadsiya Police Station where an assault case was filed against his sister. He also confirmed that his sister had attacked the housemaid. Steps were taken to refer the suspect to the Public Prosecution for further investigations.

Meanwhile, in a similar, another case a Kuwaiti woman who is believed to be in her 50s is negotiating with her Filipino domestic helper to drop a case which the latter has filed against her in return for money, reports Al-Anba daily. It has been reported the Filipino filed a case against her female sponsor after she suffered a deep cut on her left arm and bruises on her body as a result of beating and submitted a medical report to substantiate her claim. It has also been reported it was the son of the lady sponsor who took the housemaid to the Amiri Hospital.

Woman swindled: A Kuwaiti woman filed an embezzlement case against a real-estate company in Hawally area after it swindled KD 53,000 from her through bogus sale of two flats in the United Arab Emirates. According to security sources, the victim explained that she gave the company KD 53,000 for the purchase of two flats in the U.A.E. and she was also given the keys to the two flats. After the company management affirmed to her that they officially purchased the two flats for her, she traveled to the U.A.E and discovered that the company did not purchase the flats on her behalf. After she returned to Kuwait, she demanded explanation from the owner of the real-estate company but he told her that they have bills of the purchase. She then filed a case at Maidan Hawally Police Station against the company.

2 held with drugs: Two individuals – a GCC national and a Bedoun – were arrested in Jahra area in possession of methamphetamine, narcotic pills and large sums of money.
