KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: The Criminal Court, headed by Judge Abdullah Al-Othman, sentenced a psychologist to seven years in prison for smuggling drugs into the Central Prison and fined him a total of KD 6,000, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Four charges were filed against the psychologist who was convicted of smuggling drugs into the prison; hence, the prison sentence.

He was fined KD 5,000 for one of the charges and KD 1,000 for another; while he was acquitted of bribery due to the absence of incriminating evidence. Case files indicate that when the officers searched the defendant upon entering the prison to carry out his job – treat inmates who are drug addicts – they found psychotropic and narcotic substances in his possession. Instead of treating the inmates, the defendant neglected his duty and was caught in the act of smuggling drugs into the prison.
