‘Set up drive-in cinema’ – Land allocated for SMEs owners

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: The Municipal Council approved, in its first regular session, Monday, the temporary allocation of a plot of land with an area of one million square meters in the Subiya area for the benefit of the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development to attract mobile vehicles and establish a drive-in cinema through the owners of small and medium enterprises for a period of 5 years, starting from the first of November. The Council demanded the necessity of finding conditional amendments through the approval of recreational, sports, investment and commercial activities by the supervisory authority in coordination with the Department of the Structure Plan and in coordination with the Development Authority of Silk City, Boubyan and the Five Islands.

The Department is authorized to move and modify the dimensions of the site and its area in case it conflicts with any existing infrastructure services or any organizational or technical reasons and coordination with the ministries of services before starting to exploit the site and refer to the municipal council in the event of a request for modification. The Council also approved the request of the Ministry of Public Works to allocate a water treatment pathway feeding the Doha area, the Doha chalets, the entertainment city and other facilities.

The council approved the proposal submitted by member Ahmad Hadyan regarding amending item “Fourth” of the committee’s decision regarding the regulations for spring camps and reducing the value of camp insurance from 300 Kuwaiti dinars to 100 dinars only. The Council approved the letter of the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs regarding the Municipal Council’s decision regarding amendments to the technical requirements and specifications in car parks in the Shuwaikh and Al-Rai area. The Council took note of the draft budget of the Kuwait Municipality for the fiscal year 2021- 2022 and the final account for the fiscal year 2019-2020.(KUNA)
