KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6: H.E. Ambassador Sanjay Bhattacharya Secretary (CPV&OIA) arrived in Kuwait today, Saturday, on an official visit -- Nov 6-8. He was received upon arrival by the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, HE Sibi George. Bhattacharya is responsible for passport services, consular relations and Diaspora affairs and oversees India’s relations with the Arab world, is Sherpa to BRICS and representative to Jal Jeevan Mission.

Earlier he has served as Ambassador of India to Turkey (2018-2020); to Egypt (2015-2018) and as Joint Secretary (South) (2012-2015) he was responsible for crafting India’s Act East Policy. He has also served as Deputy/Acting High Commissioner in Dhaka (2010- 12) and was involved in the conclusion of the historic land boundary agreement; DCM in Tokyo (2007-2010), which saw the elevation of India’s ties to comprehensive strategic partnership; and DCM in Beijing during which he oversaw India’s boundary and bilateral relations with China. Earlier he worked in Brussels (1998-2001), Beijing (1992- 95) and Hong Kong (1989-92), besides Headquarters in East Asia, External Publicity, Americas and Finance Divisions.
