KUWAIT CITY, May 30: MP Adel Al-Damkhi said the quality of Kuwaiti TV entertainment declined in recent years according to media experts and other concerned individuals, indicating that it has lost its identity and it no longer refl ects the reality of Kuwaiti households as it did before. He pointed out that the entertainment media is a platform for nations to share their cultures, where barriers are dissolved and differences are understood.

It is also a source of inspiration for young minds while contributing to the development of cognitive capabilities. Therefore, raising the quality of entertainment production is vital as those who are protective of their homeland refuse to see it portrayed in a disrespectful and immoral manner, he added.

This has prompted the MP to submit queries to Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammed Al- Jabri. He wants to know if entertainment productions are subject to internal evaluation prior to airing. If yes, he requested for copies of evaluation reports. He also asked if these productions are reviewed by authorities tasked to safeguard the social, moral and religious characteristics of Kuwait such as the ministries of Social Affairs, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
