Parent beats student in wrong identity – Resemblance proves costly

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: A ten-year student of a school in Firdous area sustained injuries when he was slapped, kicked and insulted by the guardian of another student, after mistaking him for his brother, reports Al- Rai daily.

The victim, identified as Ahmad, was taken to Firdous Police Station by his elder brother along with a medical report from Farwaniya Hospital and a case was filed against the suspect. He told securitymen that he was in the school courtyard when the father of a student rushed towards him and starting slapping and kicking him. He was insulted and pushed towards the flag mast where he hit his head strongly. It was later discovered that the man intended to hit Ahmad’s brother who studies in the same school and had a quarrel with the suspect’s son. Due to the similar features shared by Ahmad and his brother, the suspect mistook him to be his brother.

Ahmad revealed that no one in the school tried to defend him by stopping the suspect. He had sustained painful injuries. Despite the pain, he went to the school administration and asked them to call his family but they refused his request, asking him to wait until the end of the school day.

At the end of the day when his elder brother came to collect him and his brother home, he saw the injuries on Ahmad’s body and immediately took him to Farwaniya Hospital where he received treatment and obtained a medical report. Securitymen have launched investigations in this regard.

Meanwhile, a 59-year old Kuwaiti citizen sustained back and neck injuries when he fell from a wooden ladder in Sabahiya area, reports Al-Shahed daily. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the incident, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location. Paramedics referred him to Adan Hospital for treatment.
